Revitalization Incentives

Task Force recommendations to encourage specific types of development.

  • Revise boundaries and some conditions of the Revitalization Tax Exemption Area to match the Downtown Core study area.
  • Apply full Development Cost Charge (DCC) credits for redevelopment in the downtown core and consider reduced municipal development and permit fees for projects with new construction value of $5.0M or greater.
  • Pursue federal and provincial funding for remediation projects and develop a strategy that would encourage redevelopment of contaminated sites.
  • Develop a marketing program that targets development opportunity and highlights development incentives.
