Mill Street Upgrades
On December 17, 2013 Chilliwack City Council approved the Mill Street upgrade project as part of their ongoing commitment to the revitalization of downtown Chilliwack.
Over the last several years, the City of Chilliwack has worked in close cooperation with the Downtown Business Improvement Association to configure project upgrades that will meet the goals and objectives of downtown property and business owners. Throughout the consultation process about the Mill Street upgrades, business owners expressed a desire to find a solution that maximized parking in conjunction with improved wider sidewalks.
The City of Chilliwack used this feedback to develop a plan that will widen the sidewalk on the west side of the street by 40% while maintaining the number of on street parking through converting the street to one way traffic. In addition to the cosmetic upgrades, the project includes work to replace water, sewer, storm drain and road surface on Mill Street.
The tender for the 2013 Mill Street Upgrade Project will be awarded to Strohmaier’s Excavating in the amount of $529,132.49 (plus applicable taxes), with an expected completion date of April 15, 2014.
