Community Gardens Bloom Downtown

In June 2013, Chilliwack City Council approved the temporary use of a vacant site downtown for a community garden project.

The Downtown Task Force recommended public realm improvements downtown, which will take many shapes and form. Community gardens are just one part of the multifaceted plan to create a healthy and sustainable downtown and to provide interim uses for empty lots prior to future development.

In addition to adding beauty to an area, exposure to green spaces are believed to reduce stress and create an increased sense of wellness and belonging.
